The Solution to VoIP or Kiosk Lockups
The following software is currently available for download via ftp:
timeoute.exe , linuxwd.zip, watchdogplus.zip
timeoute.exe is a self-extracting zip which generates a 32-bit Windows 95, 98, NT, or 2000 version of a watchdog process. One program, watchdog.exe, and two files, bootlog.dat, and schedule.dat. The command line syntax for watchdog.exe is “c:\timeout\watchdog.exe [COM1 | COM2] [<optional commands, separated by a space>]”. Simply put a shortcut to this program in your startup group, attach a TimeOut-2400, and restart your machine. The program adds a record to c:\timeout\bootlog.dat (if it is present) indicating the date and time watchdog was started as well as the contents of several registers. If c:\timeout\schedule.dat exists, the PC will do a smooth shutdown at the scheduled time, then power off until the scheduled “up” time. The source code is available upon request.
The software is available for downloading now on an as-is basis with no warranty whatsoever.
A Linux driver is available to our customers upon request. Just download linuxwd.zip.
We also have an advanced version of watchdog.exe that includes special features, including:
- Hiding the window
- Suppressing error messages
- Confirming a connection to the internet.
